He has recorded and performed and recorded with Jazz Legends such as Stanley Turrentine, Kenny Kirkland, Gerry Brown, Kenwood Dennard, Tony Thunder Smith, Fernando Saunders, plus India music masters L. Shankar, Neyvelli RadhaKrishna, Shree SundarKumar, Sanjay Chadran, Sudhir Limaye, and Rajish Bhandari.

CAROL BEECH – B.A. MUSIC SUNY AT BUFFALO, AMHERST, NY
INSTRUCTOR - PIANO: Carol is an expert piano/keyboard instructor with 28 years of teaching experience, both private and group lessons. She has worked directly with students, beginners to advanced, utilizing a comprehensive approach to ensure thorough understanding of music theory and applied piano. He extensive training and knowledge translates into user friendly lessons that prepare students for various competitions and recitals. Her accomplishments include: 100 voice Chorale President, Accompanist and Soloist, East Aurora Community Chorale; Dynamic Music Festival participant producing many 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners; East Aurora, NY. Credentials include: SUNY at Buffalo graduate, Summa Cum Laude; FAU graduate, Summa Cum Laude; Member Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society; Member Golden Key International Honor Society; Florida Atlantic University BA, Interdisciplinary Arts, Boca Raton, FL.
 

REIJOL MIRANDA – MUSIC AND PRODUCTION, MIAMI DADE COLLEGE
INSTRUCTOR: DRUMS/PERCUSSION, PIANO & VOICE: Reijol Miranda, founder of RJ DJ Drumstar, ASRX Entertainment and RJ Dungeon Productions born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Since he was a child, Reijol was very passionate about drawing and arts. Reijol comes from a family of musicians and singers and wants to carry on the family tradition of providing this unique service to his fellow man. He came to America via the city of Miami at the age of 18. Reijol enrolled in college for music and production at Miami Dade College and received his production degree in 2010. While in school, he worked as a musician playing for big names such as Enrique Iglesias and Emilio Estefan to name a few. He later interned and worked for the biggest independent company in the Spanish Music Industry, Granda Entertainment for over two years working big projects such as Wepa by Gloria Estefan, Norka, Gloria Trevi, Reik and Dylan Y Lenny among others. He acquired industry knowledge as well as marketing and promotion skills. He became more passionate with sound engineering, music production started djing professionally in 2011. Reijol found it easy to perform with percussions while djing at the same time, giving a Latin-African flavor to the music. RJ DJ Drumstar is currently at the studio working as an engineer and producer, currently working several projects including Nick Baby Love Music, 2 Live Crew , Afrika Bambaataa, among other independent and major artists. RJ has a strong desire to share his love and knowledge of music with young students. His positivity and passion for music has been an inspiration for youth!
 

GERALD SMITH - BA MUSIC EDUCATION FAU BOA RATON< FLORIDA
INSTRUCTOR - PIANO: Gerald attended Bethune Cookman College (BCC) and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) where he majored in Music Education. While at BCC, he was one of the lead vocalists in the BCC Chorale, under the leadership of Dr. Rebecca W. Steele. He has been under the tutelage of the world-renowned operatic vocalists, Dr. Curtis Rhame and Dr. Daphanie Warton. Being a member of the BCC Chorale afford him an opportunity to travel the United States performing at various events, including performing at the White House for former President, Bill Clinton. While at FAU, he was a member of the Singing Owls Chorale. He traveled extensively with this group, as well. He has earned several distinguished awards while singing in both chorales. Gerald’s vocal training has been in the areas of Bach, opera, contemporary, and gospel. He was selected as one of the background singers for Dr. Richard Smallwood, Dr. Mumfred (Professor of Vocal Studies at Indiana University), Dr. Glen Burleigh (composer of the song “Order My Steps”) and Moses Hogan (Negro Spiritual composer) while in Daytona.
 

JOHN HARTMAN - AA PALM BEACH STATE COLLEGE, FL INSTRUCTOR - GUITAR, BASS, UKELELE, VIOLIN, PIANO
INSTRUCTOR - PIANO, GUITAR, DRUMS, MUSIC APPRECIATION: John has worked professionally with music since 2007 as a guitar teacher, songwriter and performer. His teaching experience includes group guitar lessons in PBC public schools and Temple Beth El of Boca Raton, private and group music teacher at Ovation Music and Studios; private music teacher (guitar, bass, theory) and Band Leader. “Creativity is the greatest gift of human intelligence.” - Ken Robinson
 

KENNETH RUF – UNIVERSITY OF MO KANSAS CITY CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC, MUSIC EDUCATION AND MUSIC COMPOSITION
INSTRUCTOR - PIANO: Ken is an accomplished musician having played in many bands over the years such as FAU Jazz Band/The Wings of Swing / UMKC Jazz Band/ JCCC Touring Jazz Band. He has performed alongside many ‘celebrity’ musicians including Hiram Bullock, who played with Paul Shaffer’s band on the David Letterman Show, as well as other famous jazz performers such as Lanny Morgan, Clarke Terry, Randy Burnson, and Bruce Forman. Ken has several music degrees and has studied with jazz greats like classical pianist, Mike Gerber, who is considered one of the top fifty piano players in the world. Ken is a member of the Composers Guild and has composed music at UMKC and FA. He has vast teaching experience in classical, jazz, rock, blues and music therapy/composition. His accomplishments include an award from The Janis Moran Learning Center, Superior Achievement in teaching Classical Piano. Ken relates well to students as a compassionate and caring teacher and also has experience teaching children with disabilities. We are fortunate to have a man of such talent and dedication on The Sounds of Music instructor staff!
 

TOMASITO CRUZ - VOCATIONAL SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
INSTRUCTOR - DRUMS, PERCUSSION AND PIANO: This Havana born virtuoso accounts more of 20-year music career. At an early age, he studied at the Vocational School of Arts in Pinar del Río, Cuba, graduating in percussion with complementary studies in piano. He continued his percussion training with José Luis Quintana "Changuito" studying trombobe, music history and vocals at the National School of Arts.In the course of more than two decades, Tomas (universally acknowledged to be among the top three timba drummers in the world) has authored three books entitled "The Conga Method Volume I, II abd III", awared 4,5 stars by "Modern Drummer Magazine". His first working experience was at the Cabaret Parisienne of the "Hotel Nacional" in Cuba. Since then and over the years he had played with renowned artist like Paulito FG y su Élite, Giblerto Santa Rosa, Oscar D´León, Tito Nieve, Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Manolín El Médico de la Salsa, Arturo Sandoval, Cachao, among others. He has toured the world with some od them and accompanied other to numerous and prominent jazz festivals. "Tomasito", as endearlingly loved and known, has been parto to three Grammy winning cd´s with Alejandro Sanz, Willy Chirino and Arturo Sandoval.
 

KRISHAN GRAY – B.A. AMERICAN INTERCONTINENTAL UNIVERSITY
INSTRUCTOR - PIANO, GUITAR, DRUMS, MUSIC APPRECIATION: Krishan is a favorite with our students. His experience with guitar instruction and group lessons results in our students having fun and learning many new skills. Krishan is also an expert in video production and is responsible for filming our end of year recitals which are provided to parents and students.
 

MICHAEL MOSES – MASTER PERCUSSIONIST AND EDUCATOR
INSTRUCTOR - GUITAR: Moses' skills as a percussionist have kept him in demand as a Composer and Accompanist for major dance companies and universities throughout the country as well as an immersion in non-western traditions & forms of dance.
His music has supported Master Classes and performances for twenty years, including over fifteen years in residence with the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies. As an educator Moses has developed programs for the K - 12 Public School Curriculum as well as programs for Children at Risk , and the Juvenile Justice System.
 

DAVID GORDON – B.A. FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY
INSTRUCTOR - VIOLIN AND PIANO: David Gordon is currently a Jazz Piano/Recording Major at Florida Atlantic University and also a producer in the Hoot/Wisdom record label LLC owned by Sony. He has been playing the piano and creating/writing music since the age of 5. His many years of experience performing and conducting rehearsals for various bands and orchestra’s throughout high school and college have resulted in numerous awards and recognitions. David also plays a handful of other instruments including: Organ, Guitar, Violin, and Vocals. His love of music translates effortlessly into the classroom where he teaches music to children. Students view him as a caring and committed role model, thus facilitating their own musical dreams and ambitions.
